Asheville
Asheville is known for friendliness, good microbrews, fun outdoor activities, and just being an allover happy place! You can pop in any bar on main street and see a few dogs and more than one head of dreadlocks. You certainly won't feel pressured to dress up! It's also known as a 'yoga-friendly' destination for the new-agers and is home to the Asheville Salt Cave, where you can experience Salt Cave Therapy. People say it's like being at the beach for a week when it comes to relaxation and the impact on your skin!

Hendersonville
Hendersonville is a true North Carolina mountain town. With arts festivals, craft stores, and the Henderson County Heritage Museum, you can be sure you'll feel relaxed and welcome to explore this little hidden gem. Take the kids to the Hands On! children's museum or for more adult entertainment, check out the Flat Rock Playhouse just a short trip down the road in Flat Rock to see North Carolina's state theater and a guaranteed good show. No matter what you'll be sure to get your dose of North Carolina history and mountain air.

Wilmington
Wilmington, NC is known for Wrightsville Beach and perhaps the filming of the once-popular Dawson's Creek TV show, among other things. It's one of the best beaches on the east coast, but the town retains a small-town feel whether you're downtown or out in the suburbs. Rent a beach house and enjoy the friendly beaches, small eateries, and beachy stores. You can even drive by the high school where Michael Jordan attended!

Highlands
Highlands, NC is just downright gorgeous. Golf courses, waterfalls, a quaint downtown, and shops galore. It's not really for those trying to vacation on a dime, as most of the hotels are fairly pricey, but once you're a guest, you are treated like royalty. If you like antiques or spa days or daily rounds of golf, Highlands is the place for you. It's a great way to break from the summer humidity if you live in the south, and get some of that crisp mountain air.

Cherokee
Cherokee, NC is most known for the Harrah's Resort and Casino as well as the Native American history. When the casino opened in 1995, the town was never the same. You can have fun trying your luck at the slots or the tables and then take in some local history with the Museum or the Cherokee Indian or the Cherokee Botanical Garden and Nature Trail. You won't lack for small places to explore on your way in or out with plenty of small shops and lots of character!

Outer Banks
The Outer Banks is a huge tourist attraction with its huge beach front expanses and temperate climate. You can rent a place on the shower or check out one of the four campgrounds if you like to be a bit more rugged.
