Upping Your Protein
Think chicken, fish, beans and other legumes. If you have to go for protein powder, fine, but. . . overall, aim for good, whole, nutrient-packed food. Nothing beats good, honest food! And this up in protein will help you exercise your way to muscle gain, and therefore, a higher weight. But you have to exercise, especially strength training.

Upping Your Good Fats
Lean fats like avocado, olive oil, oily fish, nuts and seeds like chia, cheese, whole eggs, etc. All of these things are not only good for you, but full of good fat, which your body needs to keep everything running smoothly in your body. And don't be afraid to sneak them into everything, even snacks. For instance, peanut butter is a great source of protein and fat. Eat it with a nice helping of oatmeal. Or hummus with carrots!

Switching Sugary Drinks to Smoothies
Sure, sugary drinks may be helping with the weight gain a little, but at what cost? They're loaded with sugar, and other chemicals that frankly your body is better off without. Instead, get your high calorie drink in the form of a smoothie. Think of everything you can pack in there. . . Milk, yogurt, fruit, honey, chia seeds, leafy greens, to name a few. Make sure it's nutrient, but high calorie. If you need more calories, try a half an avocado in a chocolate smoothie for more creaminess.

Meals With All The Toppings
Think beef lettuce wraps, topped with sour cream, cheese, a sprinkling of hot sauce and some tossed grains or veggies. Maybe both. Think veggie pasta, served with a fatty sauce, topped with two different types of grated cheese. In other words, don't skimp on the toppings on any meal. If it's a dip, pack it with stuff. If it's a pizza, at least top it with plenty of veggies, meat, and cheese. Don't hold back on toppings!
