What Motivates You At Work?

You want to reach the highest heights possible in either your current job position or in your career. You definitely don't want to be stuck in a rut. If advancement motivates you, try doing a life audit and plan your way to the top!

You want recognition whether it's just acknowledgment or you want your credit when it is due you or you want a public congratulations on a job well done. You especially do not like being ignored or, even worse, when someone else is given credit for your work.

You don't necessarily want to advance only in your current position or career, you want to advance as a person on a career journey. Each achievement you make now gives you the motivation to keep going whether you'll advance where you are or step up another level in a new position somewhere else.

You want to do a good job, but not for selfish reasons or advancement. Advancement is great, but you're actually proud of what you do and accomplish for the team. You have company or industry spirit. You believe in what you do and that's a great motivator!

You want to be sure that the customer or client has a good experience with whatever it is your company produces. That's a great motivation. Whenever you hit a lull or get bored, or even if you get discouraged, remember that you aren't doing this for your boss, you doing this for the customer.

Sometimes it just comes down to money. And that's okay. You might be one of those people who work to live and not live to work. Here's how you can turn that into a motivational tool - the better (not more) work you do, the higher the chance for a raise, and a raise means more spending money in your real life.
