A Visual Learner
You prefer to see information and visualize how it all connects. Things like films, charts, graphics, video, and animations help you learn effectively. Anytime someone just tells you something, or otherwise let's you hear it, it does not work.
An Auditory Learner
You like to hear information, rather than having to physically read it, or viewing it displayed. You'd much rather listen to an audiobook, than stare at a graph. In school, you have have recited information outloud in order to learn it, for example.
A Reading/Writing Learner
You learn best by, you guessed it, reading and writing. That means taking notes, reading textbooks, taking written practice quizzes, etc. Notes are your best friend. Anytime someone just tells you something, it doesn't work. It only works when you jot down notes about it!
A Kinesthetic Learner
You're hands-on, experimental, and only really learning when you dive into the pool rather than being told about it, so to speak. Reading something in a textbook, or hearing it through audio doesn't help. Actually living through it does.
