I wait until we're alone, and then I give him a piece of my mind.
Kick him when she's not looking
Immediately interject with, 'Yes, that's right. Timmy's a little broke, so I'm helping him out.'
Whatever--I'll tell him later that he's buying her Christmas present and I'll put my name on that card.
I might tell him that was rude at some later time if I think he'll try it again but, in the moment, I just go with it for Mom's sake.
I'd probably be so shocked that I wouldn't do anything.
