I tell him that he cannot visit any city parks until he has had a full year of professional counseling. I give him one year of jail for every five years the tree would have lived if he hadn't burned it down. He has to do a full year of community service--specifically, planting trees in parks and medians. I sentence him to weekly mental health counseling in addition to community service apprenticing with the arborist.
