While almost everyone is terrified of the dentist, they're usually more afraid of us. People can get rather unpredictable in those seats and the dentist doesn't want to harm the patient at all.

While you may find mascots rather annoying, they are actually pretty afraid of people. People are usually taunting and making fun of mascots. It's not uncommon for them to be insulted or to experience physical pain.

Your first thought when you see a mouse is to jump on a chair and scream your lungs out. The thing is, mice are pretty harmless to us. They're rather skiddish animal and they find us much more frightening.
