Not New Yorker Enough
You don't know the first thing about New York. Nor would you feel comfortable waking up in a tiny apartment only to get dressed fashionably and take the subway into the heart of the city to get to work. You don't know where the best bagels are, or where to avoid going after dark. These are critical things for a New Yorker, part of daily life! Someone needs to be studying a little more.
Passable New Yorker
You know a bit about New York, enough to hold your own in conversation. A long-time resident would stop to wonder if you're a tourist or a local, but only briefly though. They'd eventually catch onto the fact that you're a tourist, or that you're super new to the whole New York lifestyle thing. So not exactly blending in, but not overall obvious either. Maybe give it some more time?
Good New Yorker
You know quite a bit about New York, but not enough to be an expert. Probably haven't been in the city long enough just yet. What is for sure, however, is that you know enough to hold your own in conversation, and blend in with the crowd for the most part. But there are moments where your lack of familiarity or knowledge shine through! Oops.
Super New Yorker
You know all there is to know about New York and you're not afraid to show it. You feel right at home on the subway, on the packed sidewalks, at the best Chinese food joint open at 2 in the morning. You're a city slicker, with a wardrobe to prove it. You wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world, because there's no place else quite like New York.
