If you perform an outstanding act of service, you could be knighted by a king. So, try to be an everyday hero and help as many people as you can. You never know which act will earn you your knighthood.

If you become a page (a fancy word for servant) to a member of the nobility, that's the first step to working your way to knighthood. Just like any job with opportunities for advancement, if you do good work you will gain greater privileges.
kill a dragon
Defeating enemies is an important job of any soldier. However, the ultimate conquest would be to kill a dragon. Doing so will prove that you have what it takes to be a knight. The only problem with this plan is that dragons aren't real.
become a citizen of the UK
The United Kingdom is one of the few countries that still offers to knight their citizens. If you weren't born there, you will have to become a citizen before you can get a genuine knighthood for military or modern service to the Crown.
join the SCA
The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an organization that brings medieval history to modern day. IF you excel in their mock combat competitions, you can get knighted. Just a tip: They highly value hospitality, respect, and noble manners.
