Skagway
Once a gateway to the Klondike Gold Rush, this town is still known for bars with ragtime music and has an old cemetery full of outlaws, local legends, and gold miners. There's even an old honky-tonk piano. This is the perfect place if you want to take a peek at how things used to be, all while chatting up the locals at the bar.

Sitka
This is the town you picture when you think about everything that really reflects Alaska. Located on Baranof Island in Southern Alaska, it's the playground for water lovers. Lakes, rivers, and the Pacific Ocean make it ideal for water activities. Most people visit Sitka for this reason, but there are also art galleries, shops, and restaurants.

Girdwood
World-class skiing and hiking-friendly, breathtaking views bring visitors from all over the world to Girdwood. It's not heavily populated, and frankly, there isn't exactly much to do, but if you're really big on nature--mainly snow, good vistas, and sports--then you're in paradise.
