The Ming Dynasty
This is one of the ultimate Chinese dynasties. They ruled for 276 years and are known for providing one of the greatest eras in terms of organized government functions and social stability. The army was strong, and the navy's dockyards were the largest in the world.
The Mongol Empire
One of the most famous dynasties of the world came out of Asia. The Mongol Empire existed during the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, and it was the largest contiguous land empire in all of history. It originated in Central Asia, but it spread to Central Europe, the Sea of Japan, and even Siberia, Iran, and Arabia. That's what happens when nomadic tribes unite and invade under the rule of one man: Genghis Khan.
The House of Tudor
Yes, the English had a dynasty of their own! The Tudor dynasty was started with a royal house of Welsh and English descent. It came from Tudor monarchs. Their ancestors were a part of the Lordship of Ireland, which later became the Kingdom of Ireland. The Tudor family rose to power during the Wars of the Roses, which made other houses extinct. Five Tudors ruled for just over a century.
The House of Romanov
Talk about the ultimate Russian dynasty! The Romanov dynasty was no joke. If it weren't for them, Russia would not be what it is now, and definitely not as powerful either. They are behind the Western influence, military strength, and the expansion of Russia. They ruled from 1613 to 1917, and in that short time period, they changed just about everything.
The Vanderbilt Family
Fret not, Americans have had a dynasty. In fact, several, but none like the Vanderbilts. Famous during the Gilded Age (late nineteenth century, from 1870s to 1900), they got into the business of shipping and railroad. It began with Cornelius Vanderbilt and went on expanding into other areas of industry. His descendants built mansions on 5th Avenue and in Newport, Rhode Island. They were rich, so rich that Cornelius was the richest man in American history--to this day! Their homes are now museums known as 'The Fall of the House of Vanderbilt.' Anderson Cooper is a direct descendant!
The Nehru-Feroze Gandhi Family
The Nehru-Feroze Gandhi dynasty is not related to independence leader Mohandas Gandhi (better known as Mahatma Gandhi), but they have been dominant in the Indian National Congress for most of India's early independent history. They've been prime ministers of India and Congress presidents, and have seats in the House of Parliament of India.
