Massage!
Massage is a wonderful way to comfort old or nervous dogs. They love it! For them, it is extra-special, extended 'soak up the love' time. Who wouldn't love that? There are instructions on the Internet for how to do it properly, and some veterinarians and groomers have special dog masseuses, if you want to watch a professional do it first.
Swim!
If you don't have a pool of your own, they sell pools made especially for dogs. Even better, take your dog to a natural water source. They love getting out and sniffing around, and the added bonus of splashing around is sure to make any dog's day!
Luxurious Bath!
Itchy, dry skin is no fun. Take the plunge and SPLURGE on bath products that will really soothe your dog's skin. There are great products out there that are organic and free from unnatural chemicals. Before the bath, cover your pet's bed or favorite spot on the couch with a fluffy towel straight out of the dryer, so he/she has a warm place to roll around and get dry!
Homemade Treat!
Don't worry, they're not as hard to whip up as you think. In fact, it's easier than making cookies, as they have fewer ingredients. They're also healthier: With more and more conventional pet foods suffering recalls and inducing allergies, vets are saying that feeding dogs carefully according to their natural diet may decrease health problems, like pancreatitis. Making your own treats can be as easy as buying chicken livers for a dollar and cooking them on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees for an hour. For fancier treats, check the Internet for fun recipes!
Picnic!
Your puppy needs to get out more, and what better way than a picnic? Yummy food, trees to sniff, and time spent with their favorite person--heck yeah! To make the picnic, check the web for vet-approved homemade foods for dogs and then grab some paper plates and head to the nearest park!
Pedicure!
Dogs that live in very hot or cold climates, or walk on concrete, will sometimes get dry, cracked, or sore paws. Give those paws a little loving with an at-home or professional pedicure. Give those tootsies a soak, some lotion, and then Bag Balm or Paw Wax to give your dog some much-needed luxury and relief!
