Go away for the weekend
You need a change of scenery. It might be a good idea to go alone. It might be an even better idea to go with your romantic partner. As they say, a change is as good as a rest. A couple of days in a new setting, whether that's an urban environment or a country one, can really refresh you and elevate your mood.
Do some charity work
Why not volunteer your time to an organization that is important to you? Studies show that helping other people actually improves your mood. It's always helpful to develop a true understanding of people whose situations are worse than your own. It makes you grateful for what you already have, instead of yearning for all the things that you don't, and feeling grateful automatically puts you in a better mood.
Eat some chocolate
Better yet, eat some chocolate and drink some wine. You need a culinary indulgence of some sort. Even if you're not a fan of chocolate, or you don't drink alcohol, we're betting there's a food or a drink out there that will nourish your soul as well as your body. Go find it. Then ingest it. Sometimes that's all it takes!
Go to a football game
You need to get outside in the fresh air, preferably with a large group of friends. Whether you're in the stands watching or actually taking part in the game, you'll be lifted out of your everyday world. Sports help you to forget your troubles and live in the moment. They can also be very cathartic, especially when your team wins, but even if it loses. One of the greatest lessons of sports is that there is still honor in failure, if you know you've done your best.
Get a massage
There is nothing like the healing power of touch. Nowadays, most medical plans acknowledge this. Check your benefits plan to see if you qualify for massages. But even if you have to pay your own hard-earned money for one, it's worth it. A massage is perfect for someone who is blue because of stress and strain. Follow it up with a hot bath and then go straight to bed. Sheer heaven!
Go skydiving
You need a good old shot of adrenaline. You're feeling low because you're bored. Instead of making a drastic life change of some sort, like quitting your job or leaving your lover, try jumping out of a plane first. (With a parachute on, of course. Possibly, you should also be strapped to someone who's got a lot of experience at skydiving.) We guarantee you'll feel more alive after you do it. (Unless, of course, you are dead.)
