Generation X
The group of people who follow baby boomers, and precede Millennials. There aren't strict dates, but people agree that it's people born in the early 60's to the early 80's. They believe in reduced adult supervision, dealt with increased divorce rates and maternal participation in the workforce. This MTV generation listened to grunge and hip hop, watched indie films, and were cynical teenagers, now grown up to be active, happy, and capable of achieving a work-life balance.
Millennial
This generation follows Gen X, and focuses on the early 80's to the mid-1990's, although some claim that the early 2000's still count. They are mostly children of the baby boomers. This is the generation known for its increased use of communications, media, digital tech, etc. They have liberal views in politics and economics, a fact which has been credited with affecting large industries. They're often described as sheltered, confident, team-oriented, conventional, pressured, and achieving.
Xennial
This term hasn't even been coined in a dictionary yet, but it's picking up steam. It's typically used for anyone born between 1977 and 1983. This generation is a blend of the disaffection of Gen X and the optimism of the Millennials. They barely remember a time before the digital age, but they remember it. They have the grunge cynicism, a love for both analog and digital tech, had a bad AOL adolescence before the Facebook shaming and constant communication.
