Questions to Ask Before Marriage

These are questions like 'How will be spend our alone time? How much alone time do YOU need? Will we work together toward a common goal, to solve problems, or will we constantly argue? How are you at apologies and forgiveness? Do we truly consider each other's ideas and complaints?' These are the questions you most need to sort out, because to you, the most important thing is having a healthy dynamic with your partner.

Above all else, these things are what makes your world go around. Nothing makes you feel more loved and respected than faithfulness, trustworthiness, and honesty. So you need to ask 'Have you ever cheated on anyone, including me? Can you honestly handle having one partner for the rest of your life? Do we define emotional cheating the same way? Do you feel confident in talking to me about anything?'

Relationships are much more than just sex, but that doesn't mean that sex isn't important anyway. Ask the tough questions, like 'Am I really meeting your sexual needs? Are you meeting mine? What are we both comfortable doing, and what are we not okay with? What boundaries should there be? And how should we experiment more? Any preferences or fears?'

To you, family is everything. Everything from talks about the holiday get together, to raising children of your own should be brought up. 'How will we make sure to spend the holidays with both sides of the family? Do you want children, and how solid is that statement? Do you see yourself wanting kids someday?'

This is a big one, because most married couples fight about money. So, ask outright. 'Do you see us joining our finances? How do you feel about debt? If one of us lost our job, would we be in trouble, and if so, how would we make ends meet? How are we with spending, and budgeting?'
